Group Classes

The format for group classes entails the following for our dance lessons in Chicago, IL. Any number of students may attend with attendance typically ranging anywhere from 12 to 30 students. Students space out behind the instructor in front of the wall of mirrors and practice their basics without a partner. This exercise reinforces the basics, gives everyone a chance to warm-up and prepares the students for the dance move that will be taught that day.

A dance move will be introduced, demonstrated, and then broken down into parts. Students then partner up and go through the motions of the dance move slowly and without music with the instructor. Students change partners every time the dance move is practiced. Finally, the dance move is performed by the students with music. Again, every time the move is practiced, students change partners.

Group dance classes provide the opportunity for students to dance with a number of different partners. In this way, they can experience a variety of styles and approaches. This is especially helpful for leaders because it gives the leader a feel for how different followers dance. A group session is ideal for intermediate and beginner dance lessons. Getting a different experience with each partner helps train leaders in leading their partners better.

Drop-Ins are welcome for Group Classes. No Appointment Necessary

No appointment is necessary for group classes. Just come on in.

Rueda Group Class Requirements

Before coming into the Beginner Rueda class it is required that the Rueda dancer has Beginner level Salsa experience. We do offer salsa dance lessons for those interested. The Advanced Rueda class requires that the Rueda dancer have Advanced level or at least Intermediate level Salsa experience.
